So I had the opportunity to get another Mirena IUD and it was just minutes before the procedure. It turns out mine had been completely ineffective for over 6 months. I knew the hormones ran out last summer, but I just figured it being in there offered some protection. According to the Dr's office it doesn't. I had been through 2 consultations on getting this thing changed and I was sitting there just moments before the procedure, naked from the waste down and I mentioned yet again, all the medical complications I had in the last few years. It dawned on me all of my serious health problems started since I got it inserted.

Some history:
I had a Mirena IUD inserted about July 2006 after my last baby was born. And the theory is that the hormones in the Mirena will not affect your body as much as taking the pill because the location of it isolates the hormones to only go to the ovaries. I was doing pretty good for awhile until I moved to Mexico 3/2007. When I was in Mexico I developed high blood pressure, and chronic sinus infections (I now know it was blood pressure headaches) and these awful bouts of back pain where I couldn't walk for a week. Other issues I had were not breathing correctly in my sleep where I would wake up in a state of suffocation. My legs would suddenly go freezing but my head would be sweating in 97 degree weather. I had 5 strokes. Kidney stones, a thyroid tumor. A very strange metalic body odor that was tremendously humiliating. And. SEVERE FATIGUE. Gastric reflux. Osteo Arthritis developed. The list goes on and on I literally thought I was dying.
All of that started and continued after I got the IUD. I was 35 when I got it. So this all started at age 36.

So I was sitting on the table and I mentioned to the Nurse Practitioner, are they certain my health problems were not because of the Mirena. She looked in the medical brochure and asked around then even called the head of the Clinic and the head of the clinic said, no go ahead. But while she was walking around I searched on my New Samsung Galaxy SII which I love (btw) and it said very clearly in warnings - if someone has a history of stroke be cautious to use the Mirena. In the last minute I decided to change to the copper IUD.
Then within 2 days this weird rash I've had on my shoulders, that went away partially when I stopped taking Simvastatin, completely went away. I am definitely going to get hit with a menstrual cycle again which I have not had for a few years, but I think it is good for your uterus to get cleaned out sometimes. I started doing all this research on Mirena... I think it might be responsible for all my major health problems. I'm seeking legal advice.
